An Important Pesticide Update for Our Clients

Written by  Tuesday, 11 October 2016 13:56

We have recently made a significant upgrade to the instrumentation we use in our pesticide testing.  Knowing what we know about the forth-coming regulatory climate in the California cannabis market, we decided to make a large investment in two brand new SCIEX 3500 triple quadropole mass spectrometers.  The greater sensitivity and expanded list of compounds afforded by this new instrumentation will aid us in preparing and empowering our clients to meet and exceed the regulations placed on their businesses by the state of California by this time next year.

There are three aspects to this upgrade.

The first is that the sensitivity of our analysis is going to be increased significantly. We're talking about a shift from detecting parts per million to parts per billion for the majority of these compounds.  The second change we are implementing is the addition of 46 new compounds to our original 12.  We will have a total of 58 pesticides on our list.  We have designed this list based on regulations in place in Washington and Oregon.  The third change is that we will quantify pesticide detections.  If a pesticide is detected, we will tell you the quantity present.  We anticipate these changes being fully-implemented by the first week of November, 2016.

What this means for you  is that in the next couple months, you will very likely see detections for pesticides on products that were previously tested without any detection. This will be alarming at first but keep in mind this data is meant to give you detailed information about your product so that if necessary, you can make smart, efficient adjustments in your process.  Our customer service and lab staff have been extensively trained on what to expect with the implementation of this shift and are ready to assist every step of the way.

Please know that we understand how important this is to your business and are not taking this issue lightly.

We are tirelessly devoted to staying in communication with you and providing education whenever we can.
